ABOUT INSPIRATION FILM
Inspiration Film addresses a cinematographic process, based on performative actions. We extend the Existence Theatre practice with it a step further. Viewers get motivated to invigorate the seen images by mixing them with own memories and experiences gained. They will be able to relate to the confronting performance text more or less, in which philosophical thoughts get mixed with empty phrases of daily conversations.
In some of the film scenes repetitive moments are used as a metaphor against present-day rapidity. Shaped by processuality, the origination process of the filmed acts provides only a first approach, not self-containing stories that may be viewed from an outside point of view.
The meaning of inspiration, known as „the animation of life, soul and spirit“ is the origin not only for artistic creativity but for vitalisation as such, linked to all human beings, if the right situation is provided. Inspiration simply happens, can’t actually be planned. Isn’t something comprehensible, but perceptible. It’s about individuality, self-determination, liberation from any preset standards. Inspiration helps to generate energy by placing it into daily contexts. It also may work as a source to oppose continued and hardened dogmas and destructive ideologies; inspiration set against everyday rituals and the customary that surrounds us. It enables us to effect vitality and therefore openness to the other.
It has become a central starting point of the Existence Theatre practise to address, how people experience transcultural societies individually; and how to deal with everyday fears that concern a loss of identity. But more than only seizing issues, we are interested in the possibilities to create a fresh, multi-layered and especially positive identity image in the present-day context.
It needs space so that inspiration can flow. Inspiration film wants to generate exactly such a space through artistic processes (away from any given standards, be it historically, culturally, religiously, politically, socially driven). Inspiration means having confidence in what happens in the actual moment, to observe, not to judge, to let it happen, to feel the energy, that becomes available.
Inspiration Film widmet sich einem kinematografischen Prozess, der auf performativen Aktionen basiert und die Praxis des Existence Theatre’s weiterführt. Anhand filmischer Mittel wird dazu angeregt, gesehene Bilder weiterzudenken und für sich selbst zu beleben. Dabei setzt der Text, der darin geliefert wird, auf Konfrontation. Neben philosophischen Gedanken fallen auch Alltagsfloskeln, mit denen man sich mehr oder weniger identifizieren mag. Oftmalige Langsamkeit der Filmszenen oder repetitive Momente stellen sich gegen eine Alltagsraschheit und sollen BetrachterInnen aus der Reserve locken. Das Prozesshafte im Entstehungsvorgang der gefilmten Aktionen liefert Ansätze, keine in sich geschlossene Geschichten, die von außen zu betrachten sind.
Inspiration, was bekanntlich „Einhauchen von Leben, Geist und Seele“ bedeutet, ist Ausgangspunkt nicht nur künstlerischer Kreativität, sondern einer Belebung an sich, die sich in allen Menschen vollziehen kann, soweit dafür eine günstige Situation geschaffen wird. Sie passiert, ist nicht etwas Fixes, das geplant sein kann. Sie ist nicht verstehbar, sondern spürbar. Es geht um Eigenständigkeit, Selbstbestimmung, Befreiung von jeglichen Vorgaben. Es gilt zu entdecken, was wir wirklich wollen und dies bewusst zu tun. In der Umsetzung hilft Inspiration im täglichen Leben Kraft zu entwickeln, festgefahrenen Dogmata und destruktiven Ideologien entgegenzuwirken, also Inspiration als Quelle eines Dagegensetzens. Inspiration stellt sich gegen das Alltagsritual, das Gewohnte. Sie erwirkt Lebendigkeit und kann somit auch Offenheit Fremdem gegenüber den Weg ebnen.
Es ist ein zentraler Ausgangspunkt des Existence Theatre’s geworden, sich damit zu beschäftigen, wie Menschen transkulturelle Gesellschaften erleben, und wie mit Alltagsängsten vor Identitätsverlust umgegangen werden kann und dabei aber ein neues, vielschichtigeres und vor allem positiv besetztes Identitätsbild im Gegenwartskontext möglich wird. Damit Inspiration in unserem Leben fließen kann, braucht es Raum. Diesen Raum sucht Inspiration Film im Rahmen des Existence Theatre’s zu erwirken, das sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, ein sich begegnen innerhalb künstlerischer Prozesse zu ermöglichen (abseits vorgegebener Strukturen, seien diese historisch, kulturell, religiös, politisch, sozial geprägt). Inspiration bedeutet auch Vertrauen haben zu dem, was gerade in diesem Moment passiert, es zu beobachten, nicht zu werten und es zuzulassen, die Energie, die dabei frei wird, zu spüren.
