SVAPA WORKSHOP2010 MOUNT LAWLEY SHS

in collaboration with Western Australian musician TRISTEN PARR and Year 8 students SVAPA (Special Arts Education Program)

workshop at the Mount Lawley Senior High School, Perth November 2010

Experimentations with improvisational performance and sound – how to control your body movement and being controlled by others. Possible Outcome of the process: multiple layers of recorded material create a video/ sound installation. On stage: the process of developing something together. Final part: based on the idea of the students; a free improvisation.

The workshop was designed to introduce new creative work methods to Year 8 students under the guidance of practicing artists.

Another project tried to exemplify, observe and translate the question: How would you describe yourself in this world? Single performances at the school-site (outdoors and the theatre) were developed to create a video/sound installation that questioned our individual behaviour in this already quite standardized world. The students were further invited to react to: How do we try to accommodate to certain frames? How could we try to overcome them? Can you grow into confident individuals, able to make positive changes happening within your immediate and extended surroundings? The work-title of Who are you finally became a curious question, statement about That is ME, but what is/awaits me out there?
